So Long Hitler, Hello Hollywood and Broadway

“So Long Hitler, Hello Hollywood and Broadway”

MUSIK FROM THE WEIMAR AND BEYOND A Documentary Film with Narration and Song by Mark Nadler based on his Award-Winning Off -Broadway Show

Germany’s Weimar Republic was founded just after WWI. It was Germany’s first attempt to enjoy the freedoms of an open Democracy. Everybody went wild. LGBTQ people, Jews, and others formerly considered persona non-grata, found themselves in an open society. Music and the Arts flourished, and a generation of new-found expression boomed. Political Parties exploded. We all know what happened then. The NAZIS came to power and shut it all down.

This is the story how and why many of these artists became ex-pats, went fleeing to America, and started contributing their immense talents to a golden era for Hollywood and Broadway.

If you want to understand the nature of the Weimar and what happened to its most creative talents, you will appreciate this thirty minute film. You might also discover how fear of the NAZI PARTY generated little opposition.
